About us

From birth to breast cancer to beautiful new beginnings

We were born identical twins! Tiffany was born first at 5 pounds, and Tegan arrived 18 minutes later at 7 pounds. Our mom said those 18 minutes were the only time she ever regretted having twins.

We grew up playing all kinds of sports but fell in love with golf at age twelve! We spent countless hours on tee boxes, practice greens, and hoofing around clubs on our backs. During those years, we had a natural competitor in each other, but we were always playing partners, too. Hard work and dedication paid off, and we were offered scholarships at the University of Michigan to play D-1 golf. We played all four years and became Academic All-Americans. We both became teachers and credit this profession with our ability to speak naturally and engage with others. We then took on our most important jobs as wives and mothers, and one of us a grandmother. Tiffany is married to a fellow U of M golfer and has five kids, one son-in-law and two granddaughters! Tegan is also married to her college sweetheart and has three children: two girls and a boy. Her youngest is adopted from Russia, and she finished off the family by bringing a flurry of spunk and wit.

Cancer Survivor Story

In early 2019, Tiffany was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Our parents were both very sick and moved to our area to get help from us. This was a devastating time for our family. Tegan now had to deal with three sick people and care for her family. Tiffany had the love and care of her husband and children but was battling breast cancer, so Tegan graciously took on the role of caregiver to our parents. It was a very stressful time.

After a few weeks, we pivoted to making relatable sister, twin, family, and style content while sneaking in breast health videos a few times a week.

Upon Tiffany’s diagnosis, Tegan reflected on her own breast health. Her doctors were watching spots on her upper left breast (the same exact spot where Tiffany’s cancer had spread). Tegan asked her doctors to reevaluate her mammograms, and they told her she was fine. Tiffany would not accept that and told her to get more opinions. Tegan then took her records to another friend of hers, a radiologist, who asked all ten of her colleagues to study the images as well. They all concluded that Tegan had nothing concerning in her images, and no biopsy was warranted. After dealing with a double mastectomy and treatments, Tiffany suggested she get a biopsy anyway. Tegan heeded her advice and underwent a biopsy and later a lumpectomy. A few days later, her doctor called her and said they were all wrong. She did have breast cancer at stage 0 in situ. In 2020, Tegan underwent a double mastectomy as well, and shortly after, we lost our mom due to complications from illnesses and possibly Covid in early March.

Taking to Social Media to Promote Awareness

After much thought and recovery from our cancers, we decided to make it our mission to remind women to get their mammograms, but more importantly, advocate for their health. If we had not gotten our mammograms or fought for ourselves, we might not be here. In September, Tiffany’s son-in-law’s mother passed away from breast cancer. Sunita was a friend and wonderful being that was lost too soon! We are more than ever determined to advocate for women’s breast health.

We decided TikTok could be a wonderful platform to make videos targeted at women to take care of their health, especially their breast health. We created @tandttwintalk and started making videos to remind women to get their mammograms in both a funny and serious way. After a few weeks, we decided no one wanted to watch “get your mammogram” videos all day, so we pivoted to making relatable sister, twin, family, and style content while sneaking in breast health videos a few times a week. @tandttwintalk took off on TikTok first, and in August of 2023, Instagram blew up.

Going Viral with our Unique Style

Our style is the first element that garnered attention on Instagram. Our love of style came at an early age, from appreciating and watching our great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother create outfits that expressed their unique bodies, beauty, and personalities. As English and History majors with a focus in Art History, we use our degrees and passions daily to develop style and content in a way that relies heavily on art and literature. Studying art history and English gave us the knowledge and sensibility to use fashion as a means of self-expression and connection to the past. Our style has always been a classic mix of art and history to create styles that incorporate elements of the past with a modern twist.
